It's weirsd, but see that -8 outside the ( )? We have to treat that as a negative 8.
Let's distribute it:
-4k-8(8-5k)
-4k - 64 + 40k
The above was the hardest part. It was -8*8 = -64 then -8*-5k = + 40k
Now we can combine like terms:
-4k - 64 + 40k
= 35k - 64
