Determine the best method to solve the system .Then solve for x and y.
(1) 2x+y=3x-15
(2) x+5=4y+2x
First, lets simplify the equations a little by collecting like terms:
(1a) 3x-2x-y=15 or x-y=15
(2a) 2x-x+4y=5 or x+4y=5
Now lets subtract (1a) from (2a) and we get:
5y=-10
y=-2
Now substitute y=-2 in (1a) we get:
x-(-2)=15
x+2=15
x=15-2=13

substitute in 1a
13-(-2)=15
15=15
Now substitute in 1b
13+4(-2)=5
13-8=5
5=5
