Question 628390: I have the following expression:
2x^2-5 over x+9
where x=-1
so worked it to 2(1)-5 = -3 over -1+9 = 8
(figured first x=1 due to -1*-1...becomes positive, right?)
would this be correct?
The question I have says "Evaluate the expression where x=-1." Then says select one of the options below as your answer....which are: A. -7 over 8; B. -3 over 8; C. -1 over 8; and D. -1. I would go with answer B, but it has been almost 20 years since I've done algebra and don't want to make any mistakes.
Thank you!
Jenny
