Question 6266: This is on elimination.
3x+y=1
5x-y=1
I just asked this question, and the answers that you gave me were (1/4,-3/4) And the 1/4 checks, but the -3/4 doesn't check... So now i'm really confused, because this doesn't seem right..
Answer by jst_kidding(6) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
see this ones easy !!
3x+y=1
5x-y=1
Now by simulteneous eqns y gets cut !!
Now we know tat 8x=2
therefore x=1/4 (u got till here correct)
now if we substitute the value of x in eqn-1
we get-
1/4 + y =1
y = 1 - 1/4
= 4-1
-------
4
therefore y = 3/4 (not -3/4)
