Herre is your original equation.

Rewrite it

Factor the binomial in the numerator

Cancel the a+b in the numerator and the denominator

combine the "b" values in the numerator

So you can see how the rest of the fraction reduces ... we will break it apart into three separate values

reduce each one ...

bring the values back together into one fraction
