Question 568018: Write the fraction in terms of the LCM of the denominators.
9 over (x-1)^2 , 6 over x(x-1)
I thought I was supposed to find the LCD. How do you solve this?
I know the answer is 9x over x(x-1)^2 , 6x-6 over x(x-1)^2
but I don't understand how to get to that.

Write the fraction in terms of the LCM of the denominators.
9 over (x-1)^2 , 6 over x(x-1)
-------
LCM = x(x-1)^2
---
Rewrite each fraction with the LCM as its denominator
---
[9/(x-1)^2] = [9x/LCM]
----
[6/(x(x-1))] = [6(x+1)/LCM]
----
