Question 559955: 2x-y=16 and -x+2y=-8
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 x -1 y = 16 .............1
-1 x + 2 y = -8 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by 2
Multiply (2) by 1
4 x -2 y = 32
-1 x 2 y = -8
Add the two equations
3 x = 24
/ 3
x = 8
plug value of x in (1)
2 x + -1 y = 16
16 + -1 y = 16
-1 y = 16 -16
-1 y = 0
y = 0
