SOLUTION: This problem isn't in the book
2y(3+4)-4(y+1)=5+1
6y+4y-4y+-4=5y+1
It's confusing there is like 3 variables, I always kinda wondered though would you go -5 to both sides or +4y

It's confusing there is like 3 variables, I always kinda wondered though would you go -5 to both sides or +4y to both sides and how do you know? How odes it affect the answer? Does the -4 multiply to take the () out on the right side or does in multiply on the lleft side too? Thanks in advance!
