b^2 – ab – 6a^2
I was told to factor this problem completely and this is the answer that I came up with am I right?(b + 3a)(b – 2a)
You're almost right:
Two numbers that multiply together to give you -6 (the last number) but add together to give you -1 (the coefficient of x)are:
-3*2=-6 and -3+2=-1
(b-3a)(b+2a)
Happy Calculating!!!
