Question 535028: using substitution method
4x+y=12
x=y-2
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4 x + 1 y = 12 .............1
-1 y = -2 -1 x ---------2
/ -1 =
y = 2 + 1 x
Substitute y in (1)
4x+ 1 ( 2 + 1 x ) = 12
4 x + 2 + 1 x = 12
4 x + 1 x = 12 -2
5 x = 10
/ 5
x= 2
Plug the value of x in (1)
4 x + 1 y = 12
4 * 2 + 1 y = 12
8 + 1 y = 12
1 y = 4
/ 1
y= 4
