= 26 - 6 + 5(0)
= 26 - 6 + 0
= 20 + 0
= 20
I miss some classes last week and I am having trouble understanding this.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! When simplifying expressions you must follow the order of operations. Some people use a pnumonic device PEMDAS to remeber the order, I've also heard "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally."
P stands for Parenthesis (work them first from the inside out, in the order that follows.
E stands for Exponents.
M stands for Multiplication it goes with
D which stands for division working left to right
A stands for addition which goes with
S stands for subtraction (at first you do this left to right)
I'll use those letters to explain the steps:
26*1-6+5(12/4-3)=26*1-6+5(3-3) P and D
26*1-6+5(0)P and S
26-6+5(0) M
26-6+0 M
20+0 S
20 A (this is also the additive identity)
Happy Calculating!!!
