A pilot can travel 400 miles with the wind in the same amount of time as 336 miles against the wind. Find the speed of the wind if the pilot's speed instill air is 230 miles per hour.

A pilot can travel 400 miles with the wind in the same amount of time as 336 miles against the wind. Find the speed of the wind if the pilot's speed instill air is 230 miles per hour
**
let x=wind speed
230+x=speed of plane with the wind
230-x=speed of plane against the wind
travel time = distance/speed (same for with and against the wind
400/(230+x)=336/(230-x)
cross-multiply
400(230-x)=336(230+x)
92000-400x=77280+336x
336x+400x=92000-77280
736x=14720
x=20 mph
