Question 484732: Please, please show me how to come up with this answer...thanks!
A chemist has a solution that is 20% peroxide and another solution that is 70% peroxide. She wishes to make 100 Liters of a solution that is 35% peroxide. How much of each solution should she use?

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
percent percentage ---------------- quantity
Peroxide I 20 ---------------- x liters
Peroxide II 70 ---------------- 100 - x liters
Mixture 35.00% ---------------- 100

20x +70 (100- x ) = 35 * 100

20x+7000- 70 x = 3500
20 x - 70 x= 3500 - 7000
-50 x = -3500
/ -50
x= 70li ters20.00% Peroxide I
30 liters 70.00% Peroxide II
