Question 459739: I am so lost, I understand the concept but not when fractions and decimals are involved please help!
Solve by elimination method, type the solution as an ordered pair.
1) 5x + 5y= -13
7x -2y= 11
2)0.3x-0.2y=4
0.2x+0.3y=5/25
3)8x -9y=24.5
7y-2x= -8.5
4)0.05x+0.25y=44
0.15x+0.05y=48

2) 5/25=1/5 =.20
Multiply by 10 or 100 which ever is the lowest you need to get rid of decimals
You are just afraid of fractions and decimals. They are not all that bad.

I am so lost, I understand the concept but not when fractions and decimals are involved please help!
Solve by elimination method, type the solution as an ordered pair.
1) 5x + 5y= -13
7x -2y= 11
2)0.3x-0.2y=4
0.2x+0.3y=5/25
Step 1, change to integers.
0.3x-0.2y=4 x10 --> 3x - 2y = 40
0.2x+0.3y=5/25 x100 --> 20x + 30y = 25
----------------
3)8x -9y=24.5 x2 --> 16x - 18y = 49
7y-2x= -8.5 x2 --> -4x + 14y = -17
--------------------
4)0.05x+0.25y=44 x100 (or x20)
0.15x+0.05y=48 x100 (or x20)
