solve the system using substitution:
x+2y=6
3x-2y=2
---
Solve the 1st equation for "x":
x = 6-2y
----
Substitute and solve for "y":
3(6-2y) - 2y = 2
18-8y = 2
8y = 16
y = 2
--------
Solve for "x":
x = 6-2*2
x = 2

Hi,
x+2y=6
3x-2y=2
Using elimination is a quick solve
4x = 8
x = 2 and y = 2 (2 + 2y = 6)
solving the system using substitution:
x+2y=6 |x = -2y+6
3x-2y=2
3(-2y+6)-2y = 2
-8y = -16
y = 2 and x = 2 (-4+6)
