2m+n=11 m-4n=37 Solve by substitution method.
all you have to do
2m+n=11
subtract2m from both sdes of the equation
2m+n=11
-2m -2m
n=-2m+11
and then you plug it in the second equation
m-4(-2m+11)=37 and then multiply across
m+8m-44=37
combine like terms
9m-44=37 and add 44
+44 +44
9m/9=81/9
m=9 and you plug it back in to the previous equation
2(9)+n=11
18+n=11
and subtract 18 to both sides
and you are left with
n=-7
and your set of solution is (9,-7) and that is your answer:)
