Question 442015: HOW DO YOU SOLVE X+Y=56 AND X+3Y=56 using substitution
Answer by rwm(914)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=0
Why are you shouting?
It stands to reason that if have 56 things and take away x I can't y have and 3y
if y is more than zero
y=3y
otherwise we get the absurd
y/y=3
which we know can't be.
y/y must be 1 unless y/y is undefined which is the case if y =0
