Question 407817: what is the variable in 5n+11=-2+1
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The variable is the unknown number. Since we (usually) don't know the value of the variable, we assign that variable to be a letter (or some other symbol) other than an actual number.
So in this case, the unknown number is 'n'.
So the variable is 'n' (without quotes)
