II.Writing as we Read*** 

 30min = 2x - 12min

  III.solving for x

     42min = 2x

      21min = x, the time it took to drive 'back home'



IV. CHECKING Our Answer***

  30min = 2*21min - 12min = 44min - 12min = 30min
