Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X/3 + x+x+5= 40
-----------
Combine the 2 x terms
x/3 + 2x + 5 = 40
Subtract 5
x/3 + 2x = 35
Multiply by 3
x + 6x = 105
Combine
7x = 105
Divide by 7
x = 15
