Hi,
x+3y=2, -x+y=1
Solving by the substitution method
-x+y=1
y - 1 = x
(y-1)+3y=2
solving for y
4y - 1 = 2
4y = 3
y = 3/4
x = y - 1
x = (-1/4)
checking our answer
-(-1/4) + 3/4 = 1
1/4 + 3/4 = 1
