8-2y=3y-2

Answer by mathtutor19(8) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First you need to get all the variables on one side of the equal sign and all the constants on the other.
So you have to add 2y on both sides (you take the opposite sign to cancel it out) to get 8=5y-2
Then you have to get the -2 with the 8 so you add 2 (same as the 2y) to get 10=5y
Then you have to divide by the number in front of y to get: 2=y
