Question 354986:
Whats the value for X?
State whether the equation is an identitiy, conditional equation or an inconsistent?

Answer by Jk22(389)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x+5)/2-4=(2x-1)/3 | x6
3(x+5)-24=2(2x-1)
3x+15-24=4x-2
-9+2=x
x=-7

The equation is conditional : it's an identity if x=-7, else it's inconsistent.

Verification : (-7+5)/2-4=-2/2-4=-5
(-14-1)/3=-15/3=-5
