8x + 9y = -4..............2
Let us eliminate x by subtracting one equation from the other.
before that you have to make the co-efficinets of x equal.
multiply equation 1 by 8 and equation 2 by 6 .
we get
48x +32y=480
48x+54y=-24
..
(48x+32y)-(48x+54y)=480-(-24)
48x+32y-48x-54y=504
-22y= 504
y=-22.91
plug the value of y in eq 1
x=((4*-22.91) -60)/-6
x=25.27
