Question 316255: Hi there. I am asked to solve for X in the following equation. I am confused as to how to isolate X when it is on the top and bottom of one side.
4rs=(3rX-s)/(2-3X)
I feel that the first step would be to multiply by 2-3X on both sides, and divide the other terms over, but whatever I try seems to not work. The answer is:
X=
9s(8r+1))/(3r(4s+1))
I would genuinely appreciate any help you could give me! THANKS!

Your first step is correct.

Now gather all x-terms on the left, everything else on the right.

Pull the x out of the x-terms.

Divide by the left hand expression,

I don't get the 9 term that you have in your solution.

I'm pretty sure you have a typo in the answer that you provided. That leading 9 needs to be a "(" instead.

Like you said, multiply by the denominator in the RHS:

Use the distributive property:

Add and to both sides and then multiply both sides by

Factor an out of the LHS:

Multiply both sides by

Which is a perfectly good answer just like it is, but in order to match your answer, do a little factoring in the RHS:
