Question 29274: A real tricky one for me. The question reads...The lengths of the sides of a quadralateral are consecutive even integers. Twice the length of the shortest side plus the length of the longest side is 120 inches. Find the lengths of the four sides. I began with 2x + y =120 and I know that this is only to figure two of the sides. I'm unsure of where to begin from here. thanks for your help.

shortest side = x, second side = (x+2) third side = (x+4) longest side = (x+6) (They are consecutive even integers) Twice the length of the shortest side + length of the longest side = 120 inch 2x + x+6 = 120 Expand the brackets 2x + x + 6 = 120 3x + 6 = 120 3x = 114 x = 38 inches Shortest side = 38 inch Second side = 40 inch (x+2) Third side = 42 inch (x+4) Longest side = 44 inch (x+6)
