Question 291977: I get points for showing the correct solution and showing the steps.
2(n - 3) + 5 = 3(n - 1)
By the way, this is "Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides."
Answer by nyc_function(2741) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(n - 3) + 5 = 3(n - 1)
2n - 6 + 5 = 3n - 3
2n - 1 = 3n - 3
2n - 3n = -3 + 1
-n = -2
n = -2/-1
n = 2
THE PROVE:
Let n = 2
2(2 - 3) + 5 = 3(2 - 1)
2(-1) + 5 = 3(1)
-2 + 5 = 3
3 = 3....It checks!!
The answer is n = 2.
