Question 291976: Question: I get points for showing the steps to solve each equations and for showing the correct solution. This is "Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides."
4(x - 6)= -2(x - 3)
Answer by nyc_function(2741) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4(x - 6)= -2(x - 3)
Distribute 4 on the left side and -2 on the right side.
4x - 24 = -2x + 6
4x + 2x = 24 + 6
6x = 30
x = 30/6
x = 5
THE PROVE:
Let x = 5
4(5 - 6)= -2(5 - 3)
4(-1) = -2(2)
-4 = -4....It checks!!
This means the answer is x = 5.
