Question 26962: how do u solve this by using substitution
x+2y=6
x-3y=-4

Answer by elima(1433)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First lets take the second equation and solve for x;
x-3y=-4
x=-4+3y
Now substitute that for x in equation 1;
(-4+3y)+2y=6
-4+5y=6
5y=6+4
5y=10
y=2
Now we have what y =, lets plug that into the equation and solve for x;
x-3(2)=-4
x-6=-4
x=-4+6
x=2
Hope you understand
