9x +3y=-51,-5x +y=39 solve using substitution method
im gtoing to use the second equation and solve for "y" since its already by its self.
-5x +y=39
+5x....+5x
y=39+5x
now plug the value of "y" into the other equation
9x +3y=-51
9x+3(39+5x)=-51
9x+3(39)+3(5x)=-51
9x+117+15x=-51
24x+117=-51
-117....-117
24x=-168
x=-168/24
x=-7
now plug the value of "x" into the value for "y"
y=39+5x
y=39+5(-7)
y=39-35
y=4
(-7,4)or x=-7 and y=4
