5x-2y=-10

The original system was
(i) 6x+y=-12
(ii) 5x-2y=-10
step 1 - multiply (i) by 2 to get
(iii) 12x + 2y = -24
step 2 - add (ii) and (ii) to get
(iv) 17x = -34
solve for x to get

substitute this into (i) to get
6(-2) + y = -12
-12 + y = -12

So we get
(-2,0)
