also called elimination method
multiply first by 2
10x-6y=32
multiply second by 3
12x-6y=42
subtract second from first
-2x=-10
x=5
5*5-3y=16
25-3y=16
-3y=-9
y=3
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve by addtion method
5x-3y=16
4x-2y=14
---------------
Multiply the 1st Eq. by 4
Multiply the 2nd Eq. by -5
---
20x - 12y = 64
-20x + 10y = -70
-------------------
Add and solve for "y"
-2y = -6
y = 3
---
Since 4x-2y = 14, 4x - 2*3 = 14
4x = 20
x = 5
