Question 25299: I'm sorry if this is the wrong topic. I'm not sure what this is listed as. The directions say to "find the missing term" one of the problems is +%282x%2B6%29%283x%2B2%29=6x%5E2 _?_ + 12 I know how they got the first and last numbers, I just don't know what to do to find the middle term. The book says that the answer is 22x. Can you tell me how they got that? Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Do you know the FOIL Method?
(2x+6)(3x+2)
First:2x%2A3x+=+6x%5E2
Outer:2x+%2A2+=+4x
Inner:6%2A3x+=+18X
Last :6%2A2+=+12
Adding all the terms we get
6x%5E2+%2B+22x+%2B+12
which means your missing term is 22x
