Let's say your fixed cost = $500
Let the cost for making each meal = $3
Let the sale price of each meal = $5

To make a profit the sales have to exceed cost

How many meals do you have to sell to make a profit?

Let x = no. of meals made and sold
:
Sale$ greater than cost$
5x > 3x + 500
solve
5x - 3x > 500
2x > 50
x > 500%2F2
x > 250

You have to sell more than 250 meals to make a profit
