Question 16022: my question is on solving equations with variables on both sides

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Usually you have to get all the variable terms on one side of the equation and all the number terms on the opposite side of the equation. However, in the case of quadratic equations (that is, equations with an x-squared term), you must get EVERYTHING on one side, and set the whole equation equal to zero.

You really should try a few problems from one of our lesson plans (of course, I like my Lesson Plan on Equation Solving), and do a few exercises for yourself.
