Connor is driving 65 miles per hour on the highway. Ed is 15 miles behind him driving at 70 miles per hour. After how many hours will Ed catch up to Connor?
Let x = time in hours that Ed will catch up to Connor
Set up a chart for D = rt, where D = distance, r = rate and t = time (in hours)
..........rate.....time......distance
Connor.....65.......x........65x + 15
Ed.........70.......x.........70x
70x = 65x + 15
Now, solve for x.
Can you take it from here?
