: I was not sure which topic to place my question under, so I just picked one. I hope that someone can help with the problem even if it's under the wrong topic! Well, here goes! It's a word problem.
A gallon of Del Monte White Vinegar is labeled 5% acidity. How many fluid ounces of pure acid must be added to get 6% acidity?
There is an answer at the end of the book, and my answer comes sooo close to theirs but for some reason I just can't get it to match theirs exactly! Please help!

If I add x ounces of 100% acid to create 6% acidity,
the equation to solve is

Solve for x.




Approximately,
x=1.36 fluid ounces
