Question 15346: I need this problem broken completely down please. The problem is giving the solution, but it seems to me as if there is a trick to it.
If 3 + 2(4a - 3)= 5 and 4 - 3(2 - 3b) = 11, which is larger, a or b?
Answer by rahman(247) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 + 2(4a - 3)= 5
3 + 8a - 6= 5
8a= 5-3+6
8a= 2+6
8a= 8 ----------->Divide by 8
a=1
--------------------------------------------
and
--------------------------------------------
4 - 3(2 - 3b) = 11
4 - 6 + 9b = 11
9b = 11+6-4
9b = 11+2
9b = 13 --------->Divide by 9
--------------------------------------------
Thus b>a.
