Question 152689: I need the steps for this word problem
Erik pays $333 in advance on his account at the athletic club. Each time he uses the club, $8 is deducted from the account. Find a linear function that models the value remaining in his account after x visits to the club. Find the value remaining in the account after 13 visits.

Answer by nerdybill(7384)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What you are looking for is a function of "x" visits to the club.
.
If x represents how many times he went to the club then your function would be:
f(x) = 333 - 8x
where
f(x) represents amount remaining in his account.
.
So, if he never visited the club:
x=0
f(x) = 333 - 8x
f(0) = 333 - 8(0)
f(0) = 333 - 0
f(0) = 333
He would still have $333 in his account.
.
So, after 13 visits:
x = 13
plug this into the function:
f(x) = 333 - 8x
f(13) = 333 - 8(13)
f(13) = 333 - 104
f(13) = 229
Therefore, after 13 visits he would have $229 in his account
