Question 150800: Solve the system of linear equations by the substitution method.
y = -4/3x
4x + 2y = 3/4

Answer by mangopeeler07(462)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y = -4/3x
4x + 2y = 3/4

Plug in -4/3x for y

4x + 2(-4/3x)= 3/4

Distribute
*(4)x-(8/3)x=3/4

*(4=12/3, so (4)x= (12/3)x.........(12/3)x-(8/3)x=4/3x)
4/3x=3/4

*Divide both sides by 4/3 to isolate x

4/3x divided by 4/3= 3/4 divided by 4/3

x=9/16

x=9/16
y=-4/3x
y=-4/3(9/16)
y=-3/4

Answer:
x=9/16
y=-3/4
