So far, i have distributed the 3 to the 1+d. I basically figured the problem and got 3+d=3. i do not know where to go from there, or even if i have the problem right.please help me.

Well, the first step is to distribute.
You should have gotten:

Then you move all the d's to one side and the numbers to the other.


So, D=0
You probably think "This must be wrong" but it isn't.
If you plug 0 in for D, you will find out why.
