For this problem I would use elimination first, then substitution. First manipulate the second expression so that you have something to eliminate. Multiply it by 8/5 so that you end up with . Then multiply all that by negative one and get . Then add that expression to the first one and get . Divide by -8 and get . Once you have this, substitute the y value into the original equation . Get subtract 30 from each side and get Divide by 5 and get . Wanna check? Plug x and y back into the original and get. It's true! So x=-7 and y=-3. The ordered pair format is (x,y), so plug in your solutions for x and y and get (-7,-3).
