Question 142385: Simplify the expression:
3 - [7x + 2y - {5x - 9y} + 2x + 4y]

Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 - [7x + 2y - {5x - 9y} + 2x + 4y]
Get rid of the innermost bracket first:
3-[7x+2y-5x+9y+2x+4y] now get rid of the other bracket (multiply each term inside the bracket by -1):
3-7x-2y+5x-9y-2x-4y
Next, collect like terms:
-4x-15y+3
Hope this helps---ptaylor
