Question 14229: Ok i have this math problem but i dont understand how to find the answer the problem is: 11(4-6y)+5(13y+1)=9
Answer by elima(1433)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
11(4-6y)+5(13y+1)=9
First distribute the 11(4)-11(6y)+5(13y)+5(1)=9
44-66y+65y+5=9
add like terms;
44+5-66y+65y=9
49-y=9
Subtract 49 on both sides;
-y=-40
We do not want to leave the y a negative, so we will divide both sides by -1;

y=40
