Question 125659: How do you substitute variables if you are doing a double variable questions?
Answer by benni1013(206) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First of all lets set up an example: x+y=1 and x+3=y. 1st step solve for one of the variables. x=1-y. Second step substitute for x into the second equation.
1-y+3=y==>1+3=2y==>4=2y==>y=2. Third step substitute answer for variable into either equation. x+2=1 and solve.
