You can put this solution on YOUR website! bruce invested in stock paying 10 1/2% dividend,
maya invested $4000 more than bruce in tax free bonds paying 7 1/2% annual simple interest.
If mayas income from investment is $75 more than bruces find how much money each invested.
------------------------
Bruce DATA:
Amt invested = x dollars ; interest = 0.105x dollars
---------------
Maya DATA:
Amt invested = x+4000 ; interest = 0.075(x+4000)= 0.075x+300 dollars
---------------
EQUATIon:
Maya interest = Bruce interest + 75
0.075x+300 = 0.105x + 75
75x + 300000 = 105x + 75000
30x = 225000
x = $7500 (amount Bruce invested)
x+4000= $11,500 (amount Maya invested)
