Question 121082: I am really having trouble with this problem. I do not understand what to do. I hope I am posting this in the correct place. Thank you far any help you can give.
A car rents for $40.per day plus 18 cents per mile. You are on a daily budget of $67.per day. What milage will allow you to stay within your budget? Thank you again.

Answer by solver91311(24713)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the car has a fixed cost of $40 per day, and you are on a budget of $67 per day, that leaves $67 - $40 = $27 per day for mileage.

$27 is 2700 cents, and it costs you 18 cents for every mile you drive. So, is the number of miles you can afford to drive each day.

Super-Double-Plus Extra Credit
Say you are on a three-day trip with this same car rental deal and for each of the first two days, you travel 100 miles per day. How many miles can you afford to drive on the third day. Even more extra credit if you do this in your head.
