The second plan has an initial fee of $55 and costs an additional $0.12 per mile driven.For what amount of driving do the two plans cost the same? What is the cost when the two plans cost the same?

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

let the number of miles be x
The first plan has an initial fee of $46 and costs an additional $0.14 per
mile driven.
C= 46+0.14x
The second plan has an initial fee of $55 and costs an additional $0.12 per mile driven.
C= 55+0.12x
equate them to get the same cost
46+0.14x= 55+0.12x
0.02x=9
x = 450
for 450 miles the cost will be same
