Question 1160593: A restaurant has fixed costs of $148.75 per day and an average unit cost of $5.75 for each meal served. If a typical meal costs $7, how many customers must eat at the restaurant each day for the owner to break even?

How the problem is worded, it makes me scared.

Probably, you want to say that the restaurant buys the meal outside (from the source) at the buying price of $5.75
and sales to the customers at $7.00.

If so, then the equation is

    7.00x = 148.75 + 5.75x.

The solution is

    x =  = 119 meals.     ANSWER

Solved.
