3x= 4 and 1/2
First multiply each side by the inverse of 3 which is 1/3
That gives us; x=41/2(1/3)
Then go ahead and turn 4 1/2 into an improper fraction; 9/2
x=9/2(1/3)
x=9/6
x=1 3/6
x=1 1/2
